My air conditioning didn't run very cold. Took the car in for an oil change and they said the car needed the belts changed. We changed both belts. The air still didn't work. So we had freon put in. Still not cold. So they say my expansion valve is clogged. O left work and the windows were fogged up. I put on the blower and my car died while I was in gear. When the car is in park and you put the fan on while the air is lit green, the car dies. So I figured out a way to get it to switch over to the recycling air and put the blower on, and the car stays running. One person says it is the expansion valve. another says the problem is electrical. another says it is the compressor. Can you help me???

Hi cubdebeargirl,

I am a little confused by the question.

1. What is the idling speed when the A/C is not turned on?
2. Does the idling speed drop and goes up when the A/C is turned on?
3. Does the peoblem occur immediately after starting from cold or only after some driving time?
4. Does the A/C work well immediately after starting from cold and then detriorates?
5. Have you checked the high and low pressure?

You mentioned windows fogging up, how long was the A/C turned on before it occurs?
Does the air speed slows down when the A/C started to lose its coolness?

When i start the car the windows are already fogged up. The air conditioning hasn't even been turned on yet. When I put the defrost on and turn the blower on, it automatically turns on the air conditioning. That's when the car dies. The idling seems fine and stable when the car is running. I do not know what the idling is at when I put the air on cuz it dies too fast. The air doesn't run. Immediately upon turning it on, the car dies

Rev the engine up to 1500 rpm and turn on the A/C.
Does the engine stall?
