Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Honda Accord 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 124k miles

very randomly my car will rev to about 2k rpm's all on its own. i took it to a transmission shop cause i needed my trans to be rebuilt and they engine code was P1399 I believe. (which is cylinder misfire). it revs at an idle and while driving. what can cause the cylinder to misfire? i want to take it to the shop but i heard it can be many things and i dont want them digging through my motor and increasing the price as they dig.[img:2ffb3ce6d5]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/505275_275_1.jpg[/img:2ffb3ce6d5]

Hi R1balla,

Lack of coolant, faulty Idle Air Control valve and vacumn leakages would cause surging.

Misfiring are either due to bad spark plugs, ignition coil and related components, fuel injectors or low fuel pressure. Without any diagnostics, it would not be possible to determine the cause.
