2001 Honda Accord Air Conditioning

Hello!

My A/c has just started to NOT turn on when I put it on, however, a few minutes later, it will sometimes come on by itself. When it does turn on, the A/C is cold as usual. Could there be a loose wire? Last evening I started the car and it did not come on at all.

Hi Debbie,

There are many possible rreasons why the compressor does not turn on or turnson intermittently.

1. Weak compressor clutch. When compressor does not turn on, tap onthe clutch to test if it clicks on. Note if the cooling fans are running.

2. Bad A/C clutch relay. It might failt intermittently. Try swapping the relay with the headlights.

3. Loose wire connections as you mentioned.

4. Bad PCM. The engine control module can go bad and intermittently fails to engage the A/C clutch relay.
