Engine started idle was irratic up to 2000 rpm down to 700 rpm tried to drive it, to see if it would straighten out. No good take foot off gas it dies. Let it set changed plugs. Started but will not idle. Only runs if you keep foot on pedle. Ran fine the day before.
thank you

Hi Bart,

The problem seems to be due to a malfunction in the idling circuit caused by vacumn leakages or a faulty Idle Air Control valve.

Quite often the IAC gets stuck and allows excessive air into the intake which increases the idling speed and the PCM is trying to compensate so the rpm surges.

A clean up of the IAC and throttle valve body with carb cleaner might solve the problem.
