My car stall while I am driving....all electrical are still on after the engine shuts off. I have replaced the ignition wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, and a new ignition was placed due to a recall....after all this it stills stalls out..

Hi archuletat40,

Was it easy to restart after engine stalled?

Does engine stall while cruising, decelerating or accelerating?

What is the idling speed when warmed up?

after it stalls it takes a few attempts but it starts it cranks over but wont start after a few attempts

I can be going regular speed or I can be going on the highway and it will stall out..all electric components are still on radio, lights, headlights..ect.....

The idle speed sounds to be normal...i let it warm up
there was a new transmission that was put into it....

Hi archuletat40,

Since you have covered the ignition side, I would suggest checking for fuel pressure when it stalls.

It could be a bad fuel pump or PGM-FI main relay which supplies power to the fue pump.

You need to check which is missing when it stalled and could not start.
Does the Check Engine Lamp shows while driving?
Any repairs prior to this happening?

Would that be part of crankshift position sensor? I am having one installed this weekend...I got the part already....I am hoping this will work...

The first repair done on the vehicle was the steering knuckle.....and then the other repairs followed.....

There are no check engine lights on the vehicle while I am driving.....the car really drives really smooth and the engine purrs like a cat...I just cant figure this out. It a gorgeous car I love it...I just want to get this fixed.......

The mechanics said the fuel pump was fine.....I dont' get it.......

Hi archuletat40,

The crankshaft sensor can cause stalling and difficulty starting but it usually would leave some freeze frame data recorded in the PCM memory.

If fuel pump is ok, it could be the PGM-FI main relay. That is why you need to check what is missing when it stalls and could not be started.

You mentioned all electrical components were working, but were the dash lights showing? I mean all those indicators such as charge, brake fluid level and oil indicators?

Yes, when it stalls all the indicators light up.....if the PGM main relay is the problem what is the estimate on getting it fixed?

The OEM relay is listed at $ 57.12 in my estimator but you should check with local conditions.

Check the relay circuit board for cold solders and resoldering them might solve the problem if it is faulty.

I had the sitting for a couple of days and I drove it to work....the stall happened about 1/2 mile going 15 miles per hour....it sounded like it ran out of gas...

then the second stall was about 8 miles going 40 miles per hour.....when i tried to restart it started then died out like it was out of gas I restarted it again and it same thing...after the fourth or fifth attempt it started.......I took it to autozone last nite and they did something and code came up for the transmission 2 cluth shifting or something like that...that is reason it was replaced in the first place....

This should have nothing to do with the transmission and it seems more likely to be the PGM-FI main relay.
