This is my mothers car, hence the low miles. The power steering is making a buzzing noise when I turn the wheel while not in motion. Fluid level is fine. What else can be done here? Also, the car really has had no repairs or work done on it in at least 6 years other than regular oil changes. Should the timing chain be replaced now as well as regular tune up?

Hi don4blues,

If the power steering has a buzzing noise with no leakage in fluids, the pump or pressure hose should be the cause.

With the car nearly a decade old and 55k miles, I would recommend replacing the timing belt. Tuneup is not that important if during regular services those had been checked, unless you have any problem affecting the performance etc. However no harm in getting it checked if you are there.
