whiile in park-I can hear a light dull type noise & while in gear it goes away---I had a repairman to say he thinks it is the torque converter-is there anyway I can be sure that is the problem-will there be other symptoms? I keep getting burnt on paying for things the car does not need-help!! Could this be a belt?

Hi jusjerry04,

Sorry to say that it is almost impossible for us to diagnose such problems as we do not know the type of noise and where it is coming from.

Where engine and/or trans noise are concerned, you need to have someone check and test for the source.

Does the noise appears in Neutral?
It could be the torque converter or the mainshaft bearings from your description.
