My alternator went out and i'm debating wheather i should buy a new alternator or re-manufactured unit (which is about $50.00 cheaper). Any big difference?

Yes there is. For the $50 I would take the new every time. You would be surprised how many rebuilt alternators have problems. Take new. They replace a number of parts in the rebuilt but it is a used made to be like new. That said, let me say that if I were going to trade the vehicle soon I would go with a rebuilt but if I was going to plan on putting on a number of miles I would take the new and have a peace of mind.
