I was on my way home and I noticed that my car radio light seemed to be flickering on and off...all of a sudden my engine revved up high and I had lost all acceleration. My lights dimed to nothing. My engine kept going strong, I just didn't have any acceleration for about 10 seconds. It kicked back in and I went for about another block or so when the same thing happend. This time I had to put my car all the way down into 1st gear since no other gear seemed to work. I cut my headlights down to hazzards to conserve power and made it home in first gear. The whole time my engine had plenty of power...never cut out even once. I turned the car off at home and went to restart it immediately. It clicked like the battery was dead. What is going on with the car?

no I did not see the battery light come on at all...the only light I did see was the ABS light. But that doesn't make any sense because it has to do with the brakes. All the lights on my dash were very very very dim though. Pretty much everything electric seemed to not be working...except the engine was still running strong.

I am taking the car in on Monday to get checked out, but was trying to get some idea of what was happening.
