I have a 1998 Honda Accord sedan. It just rained yesterday and today my automatic door locks won't function through both side of the door switches or lock/unlock through my keyless remote entry.

The window controls, on driver side, for the automatic windows only function for the left side of the vehicle and does not work for the right side passenger and back windows. However, the controls work on the individual doors.

What's going on here? Any suggestions on where to start?

Hi 1dumturd,

Did problem occur only after it rained?
Was the windows left open allowing rain water to get onto the driver door main control switches?

I had the problem resolved. It had something to do with the wipers intermittent speed controller. Apparently this is a common issue for this model. All I had to do was put the car in ignition position 2 and twist the speed controls up and down and the windows control panels were functional again.

I used the wipers on the day that it rained and I guess that wipers speed controller decided to go bonkers.

The multiplex system controls the wipers and power windows so that should be the cause of the problem.

Using the wiper should not cause any problem unless you have a fault in the system. It could be intermittent and might recur anytime.

Sometimes resetting by disconnecting the battery or pulling the fuse works.

Glad that you have resolved your problem.
