Transmission problem
1997 Honda Accord 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 326K miles

Car runs very smoothly and with no problem. However, it will sometimes begin to jerk and hesitate when slowing down. This does not happen when accelerating. It also does not happen on any kind of consistent basis, so I haven't been able to correlate it with anything else. Also, if I stop and turn off the engine and restart, it returns to normal and there is no problem.

Problem seems to be control related as restarting resolves the problem.

Does the D4 light blnks at times? I would suggest getting a scan done to retrieve for trouble codes. Autozone or some other major parts houses provides the scanning either free or for a nomional fee.

If no trouble codes are stored, the other possible cause of the gear erratic shifting could be the Throttle Position Sensor.
