1997 Honda Accord Timing Belt

Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 141000 miles

I need to change my timing belt for the first time. Parts will be around 200.00 the dealership charges 595.00. Would you recommend letting the dealership replacing it - mainly due to the 12month warranty? I would like to know - What exactly should i replace besides the timing belt and waterpump? Is there a list of parts i will need? Also oil is leaking from my distributer. should i replace the complete distributer...or are there any additional parts?

Hi garzahj,

List of additional parts I would recommend.
1. Oil seals.( Cam, Crank, Balancer shafts)
2. Valve cover gasket and bushes.

The distributor O ring and oil seals can be replaced.

If you can find a good mechanic that is cheaper than the dealer, why not?
