Shakes or Wobbles problem
1997 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 133000 miles

Hi, I am trying to find out whats wrong with my car. I haven't had major problems with it till now. It started shaking a lot about a week ago. Ive noticed slight changes in it for about a month or so but it hasn't gotten serious till about a week ago. When I try to start it, i have trouble sometimes or it will give me a very weak start. As soon as it starts up it starts to shake. if i give it gas it will subside until it goes back to idling. as soon as that happens it shakes a lot. When I am driving it and it is above 1 rpm then I don't feel the shaking but as soon as I come to a stop or slow down too much it starts up again. I took it to a mechanic and he has replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs, spark plug wires, valve cover gasket, and gametes. He said that 2 of the cylinders aren't working right because when he pulls the spark plug thing out of the cylinder the car doesn't automatically turn off. And now he says he doesn't know what else could be wrong. Please help.

Hi chizzy818,

Do you have overheating or coolant losses issues?

I would suggest getting a compression test done to see if they are within specs. If you do not have overheating issues, get the valve clearances checked.

Yes. I have both problems. I got my radiator changed because the machanic said that was the problem but it didn't help. The issue with that hasn't seemed to found either.

I believe you have a bad head gasket. A compression or leak down test would confirm if the gasket is bad.

I will get someone to run the test. Thank you for your reply and I will be back on here with the results.
