I have owned my 1997 Honda since '99 and have had little to no problems. However, 5 years ago when moving cross country, a friend was driving my vehicle for me. She ran over a tire that had fallen off an 18 wheeler. Subsequently, the wheel well was pulled off and the electrical system started going haywire as a result of being completely pulled out. When exiting off the interstate and turning into a gas station, the wires were severed by the friction of the tires. We got electrical tape and put the wires back together which got everything going again excep the fan and a/c. I replaced the fuses which got the fan working again, but it did not rectify the A/C situation. The car was taken to a mechanic close by. I could not afford to fix the A/C but the mechanic was able to somehow reroute the electrical system so that I got cold air via a toggle switch on my dash. It was only a temporary fix in order to make it across the desert in the summer heat. The "fix" lasted about a year and a half. Because it has been 5 yrs since the mechanic looked at it, I cannot remember what the diagnosis was. Does this sound like the compressor? What is the difference between an A/C compressor and an A/C clutch?
