I started the car this morning for my trip to work. The car had not even been running for 5 minutes when I came to a red light, and when I tried to proceed on my way and the car started to shake and accelerate at a very VERY slow pace. (Like it wasn't grabbing the gear to go, like it kept slipping) I was presssing on the pedal, and it just kept shaikng and wasn't going as fast as I had the pedal depressed. I let it coast for a minute and then pressed on the accerlator a little and took my foot off (doing this a three or four times) the car only shook when I put my foot on the accerlerator. Then I had come to another stop light. I was at a dead stop and the car acted like it was about to shut off. I took my foot off the brake and let it coast then pressed on the accelerator to go and the same thing happened. This happened one other time after this (3 times total within 10 minutes of the car being started) I turned onto a side road, put it in netural and let it stand there for a few minutes. Then as I was headed to the mechanic, it started running smoothly with no problems.
I have had several insistences when there is a lot of moisture in the air, that the car acts a little funny. (I.E. Idleing at higher RPMs, more vibrations coming from the engine. Feeling like its going to cut off). This is only when the car has been running for less than 30 minutes.
I have had the timing belt/water pump replaced 2 years ago, and use the same gas station every time.
Is there something wrong with the distributor cap?
Your help is most appreciated!

Hi Msbrwniis,

Moisture would cause the symptoms you described if the distributor cap seals are bad or the moisture are concentrated at the spark plug wires or plug areas.

The distributor cap O ring can be replaced easily and check if the spark plug wires are good. Bad wires would also cause the symptoms described.
