I had my car towed to a repair shop because it had ran hot and I was afraid I might had blown the head gaskets. I had head gaskets, head surfaced(was not cracked), radiator, thermostat, coolant, spark plugs, motor oil, filter. When it was time to test drive it, I was told oil was running out of the car. Then I had repaired crank seal, T244 timing belt and GAT 186 timing belt (Balance shaft). I paid $1700.00. As soon as I left, I went straight to get a smog check. My car failed due to emmission. Carbon minoxide and timing. I then took my car to Goodyear to get a diagnostic test. The car could not be tested due to some electrical situation. The alarm also stopped working. Which was working before. Which diagnostic test should have been done when I first bought my car in? The car is shaking really bad and the idel is 1500. It stops @ every light and esitates to shift into 4th gear. Please tell my whats wrong with my car? I am desparate and I think I've been, had

Hi RoslynLB,

Sorry that you are in this predicament.

The hgih idling could be due to vacumn leakages and the frequent stalling is most probably due to the MAP sensor hose being plugged in the wrong port.

The vibration could be due to a misfiring engine, high possibility the timing belt was not installed correctly.

Before doing all those, pressure test of the cooling system and head gasket should have been done.

The alarm not functioning could be due to some wires not reinstalled or blown fuse.

The 4th gear hesistation should be clutch slipping before full engagement and is caused by low line pressure. The trans throttle pressure cable needs readjustment.

You should get the car back to the place which did the repairs and demand that they solve the problems for you at no extra cost.
