1994 Honda Accord in dash temperature gauge

What controls the temperature gauge on my dash board. As soon As I turn the car on it goes all the way up and never comes back down. I do know that the fans are fireing as they should and that I'm running a normal coolant temp. Which leads me to believe it's a faulty sensor I just don't know which one.

Hi bubbaw,

Either the sending unit or temperature gauge itself is faulty. The other possibility is the sending unit wire is grounded.

Can you provide troubleshooting steps to narrow down whi h of the 3 causes you mentioned?
