The car sometimes won't turn start hot or cold. I wait a few minutes and most of the time it will start. Sometimes I have to spray a carburetor cleaner into the air intake and that gets it going, but that doesn't always work. Today while I was driving at 60mph the speed dropped, I pressed the gas pedal but got no response, no RPM movement and no acceleration. It suddenly worked again however and I continued to the off ramp. The car suddenly did the same thing but this time the motor shut off by the time I came to a stop. The car wouldn't start after this. No engine lights have ever come on.

I need you to check to see if the engine is getting spark and fuel. Based on it starting with carb cleaner, I will guess the fuel pump is bad, but we need to check to be sure.

Here are the how to's for checking for spark and fuel pressure. Check them and let me know what you find.
