I had complete tune up done on my Honda Accord about 8 months ago which included replacing my distributor. Since then, my distributor keep dying every other month. Last three times, my mechanic told me that he got batch of faulty distributors. Today, I had to tow my car again because it died while I was driving. Once the engine shuts off, it won't turn again until my mechanic replace the distributor. I am beginning to wonder it may not be bad distributors.

What can possibly keep killing my distributor? Someone told me that I have to reset the computer chip once I replace a distributor, but I assume my mechanic did that. Please advise.

You are going to have to tell us what exactly is failing inside the distributor.

For example, a failing ignition coil and be because of poor spark plug wires.

Is it the bearing that is failing? TDC, CYP sensor? Ignition coil or ICM?

I am sorry, but I am not sure what went bad on my distributor. My mechanic been replacing the whole distributor assembly and never told me what went bad.

I just went through 3 different distributor assembly in last 8 months. This time he said he will tried to read between the line (whatever that means).

Well without the mechanic telling you exactly what is wrong with the distributor, it is very hard for me to help you out.

The only possibility I can come up with is there is a shorted wire going to the distributor that may keep on shorting out a component inside the distributor.
