After changing spark plugs and PVC valve, the car still sputters and is very rough and slow to accelerate.

Could be wrong type of plug and PCV valve if not check items below

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires

It was doing it before they were replaced...my first thought was bad gas, but it was sucking the gas quickly and when I put more gas in, it still did it. I appreciate your help. I can't afford to take it in at the moment and my son has been trying to help. He checked all the hoses too. It's noisy like a muffler problem but the engine just acts like it's choking to death. Will keep going down your list. Thanks a million.
