My Honda has been in and out of the shop for the past several months with a mysterious coolant leak. All the coolant hoses have been replaced and a new radiator installed. The system has passed a pressure test yet if still continues to loose coolant. I have to fill the radiator at least once a week to keep adequate coolant in it. Any suggestions as to where the coolant might be going?

Hi hondaaccordfan,

Is the recovery tank depleting as well?

Have you checked the heater core?

The recovery tank isn't being emptied. There's no sign of a water leak inside the car, the carpet doesn't get wet and there's no other sign of leakage. The heater does work.

If the recovery tank is not being emptied, probable causes are :

1. A bad head gasket. The coolant is being pushed to the recovery tank due to the pressure building up.

2. A bad radiator cap. Coolant is sent to the recovery tank and air is being drawn in instead of coolant from the recovery tank.

3. Leakage between the recovery tank and radiator hose. Same reason as 2 above.
