I took my car in agter the water pump went out and broke the timeing belt. I paid $900 to get my car back running in worse shape then it was before the belt broke. It was running really ruff, so I took it back to the mechanic, 2 times I did this. He said he was afraid to work on it any more because he said it wasn't his fault. Anyway I'm convinced the timeing is off, but he said that there was no way. It's guzzeling gas it gets about 22highway and 19in town, it is spitting somthing on the widsheild through the defrost, and it is progresively running more and more ruff. The heater doesn't get as hot as it use to either, what do you think?

Did the mechanic remove the head when they changed the timing belt?

I would surmise that the mechanic is not a good one or atleast not a good one at working on foreign engines. The head must come off and be checked for valve damage. When the timing belt breaks, the piston can hit a valve and bend, break, etc. It is important to examine the damage no matter how minor it is. Your mechanic should be held accountable for not repairing the head damage. I would guess that the rest of the work he did was ok.

Agreed -- $900 for just a timing belt and water pump replacement on this car (without removing the head) is a lot of money and is irresponsible..
