1991 Honda Accord

I have a 91 Honda Accord that seems to possible have symptoms of a bad alternator. It will crank but once you turn it off it will not crank until it sits for a few hours. Also, we have noticed dim headlights off and on and also a fluctuation in the rpms at times... As if someone is manually making the rpms go between 1000 and 2000. This evening I went to start the car and it starts but is studdering as if it is missing or something of sorts. We recently replaced the main relay and the fuel pump apx 2 yrs ago. Can anyone give any insight as to what this could be, or does this sound like possible alternator issues?

Hi there,

you can test the alternator on car with a Volt gauge, you will want to see around 13.5 V min charge rare, i would be having all the earths and the battery terminals cleaned and re-tightened, also get the batter load tested as a precaution.
