I was driving my 1991 Honda Accord home the other day and I noticed that the engine gave out a knocking noise when I was on the freeway. It wasn't a continuous sound, but rather just a quick knock and then went back to normal. I was about 20 miles in to my 30 mile commute home and did this two times on the trip home. I did notice that when it did this the RPMs dropped when it knocked and then quickly came back up. What could be causing this?

Hi there, i would be concerned that this is an oil pressure problem, trouble is this is an intermittent problem and it may be hard to track down easily, i would start with and engine flush and change the oil and filter, when was the last engine service done?

The last oil change was about six weeks ago and they didn't mention any problems then.
