automatic, mileage 100,000. sometimes engine wont start. battery and charger checked out, good. will be okay for a week, maybe two. go out to start one day, no kick over. it wants to. go out an hour later it kicks over. maybe no more problem for a day or two. then it begins. not weather related. cables, hoses look good. alternator?? plugs? gas line, or intake, distributor. please give suggestions. causing confusion to many helpful people. thanks.

G'Day there,

I would be looking at the starter motor, The solinoid contacts may be burnt out and they are not making a good contact when cranking, If you try cranking and nothing happens, pull on the head lights and try againe, if the lights dont dim then the starter is not drawing any current and this could be your problem.

I believe that you need to check the spark on the car. When the you say the car turns over but does not catch, have a friend help you and turn the engine over as you check for a spark to the plugs. No spark and the coil could be failing, etc. Got spark, then check that the injectors are spraying fuel.
