We replaced the alternator, and have the red battery light intermittantly come on. The battery is fully charged - even when the light comes on. Now the speedometer also doesnt work. The code 17 for speed sensor comes on. Are the two issues related?

Hi arrowtyke,

Both should not be related. Speedometer not working are usually due to a faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor located on top of transmission housing below the thermostat housing.

If the alternator is reman, get it replaced. The voltage regulator for the indicator light is not functioning correctly. Check the alternator wire connectors first.
