I have a 1990 Accord Automatic 156,000 miles. I just had the timing belt and distributer done. Now the car idles at 500 RPMS and makes like it wants to stall out while at a stop. it stalls when the ac is on at long lights. I was told to do a tune up and it would get better. I changed the oil,all filters, spark plugs and wires. when doing so i had found oil in the spark plugs. So then i changed the valve cover gasket.but the car is still running horribly what can I do to fix it without having to go to a mechanic and spending another 700 that it has already cost me for the 2 previous parts? also i have noticed that i pretty much have to pry the shifter out or into park. but all other gears shift very smoothly

There is a set screw on the throttle body to adjust the idle. Try raising the idle see how that works.

I have a 1990 LX, I am having the same problem with my shifter, although the owners manual says to pull the shifter out of park by inserting the key into the shift release locking mechanism located on the shifter console. Setting the transmission to neutral then starting the car with the em break on.
I also noticed that my sport light is always on, but it does not blink as the mfc book suggests. Instead the s light is on and all three jar lights are on doors and trunk. I have a problem with the transmission slipping back down to second gear sometimes. I dont know if this is an electronic malfunction or a mechanical problem. All I know is that it rarely happens but on August 25th the car was doing it like mad in D4 so I switched to d3 and it seemed to be fine for the most part. I don't know whats wrong but I hope to get some posts about my problems. If I get more info on the subj I will post here for you to view as well. Please do the same.
