My accord LX has started knocking (as in what sounds like octane pinging) since I got a 30K service at 270K miles. I've filled it up several times from different gas stations. My mechanic feels there is nothing wrong with the car, but it has never done this before. I use regular gas. The knocking is under acceleration, worse under hard acceleration.

The engine could be overheating and you're not aware of or the EGR valve is stuck closed and causing the engine combustion to skyrocket which will make the engine detonate/ping or a knock sensor not retarding the ignition timing which you don't have-
