I've asked a question previously regarding this same car. The problem was the same, but different symptoms. Previously my car wouldn't start, wouldn't even make a sound when I tried to start it. I've had my battery checked (about 2months ago) and have also, since my first question to you, disconnected the battery cables and cleaned up and corrosion. When it was not doing anything when I tried starting it, my dad had made sure it was completely in park and then tried to start it and it started right up. In the last month, when it wouldn't start (only happened once or twice) I'd double check that it was in park and bang it started.
What is currently going on is that it's trying to crank over, but isn't starting (the headlights do dim when I try to crank it over). My question today is, how do I know if it's my starter vs. my alternator or possibly just a bad battery? The headlights stay bright until I try to start it and thing's like the radio, heat, electric windows, etc. do work.
Thank you very much for for your help, I can't express how much it's appreciated!!

I'm going to say that you have a battery problem...maybe one that is borderline. Generally, you should be able to crank a car w/ the headlights on and not see any dimming (unless you've been cranking the daylights out of it).

If your battery is fully charged and fully functional AND you can get the car started, check your charging system.

Thank you, Justin, for the info. I would like to say that I'm not cranking the daylights out of my car-as you put it-the headlights dim on the first attempt. Can I ask if what you mean by having my charging system checked-would that be having my starter and alternator checked? Also, as far as my battery-if I can get the car to start, to check the battery are you meaning take it to (for ex.) an auto parts store and have them check it? Just wanted to be clear on your advice.
I'd like to thank you again for your help!

Justin-
I took my car to an auto parts store yesterday (it actually started) and they checked the battery as well as starter/alternator. I did have a bad battery, got a new one and I'm hoping no more starting problems!
Thanks again for your help!
