Noises problem
1984 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I just replaced the fuel pump in my 84 accord lx and the pump makes a clicking/knocking sound when accelerating, the more accelerating the faster the noise. why?

Hi woodyard,

The fuel pump has a contact point design and it would click while working. During acceleration when fuel is being drained from the carburettor float chamber faster, the pump would be working faster.

If the clicking noise is very audible, check the fuel pump installation and the mounts. Improper seating of the fuel pump would allow the operating noise to be transmitted to the body .
