My son has 1981 Honda and though it is and old car we have had a constant issue with what we thought may be the carby. We put a rebuild kit through it after my son was driving it home one evening and it stalled then wouldn't start again. We have checked all vacuum hoses and nothing appears to be obviously in bad condition. Tonight after not being able to start it for a few days we got it started but now find that it seems to struggle more under load. Affter running for a bit and revving the motor the engine stalls or comes close to stalling. Could it be the fuel pump or is it still the carby?

Hi beccib,

The fuel pump operates with a tick and you can test the fuel by unplugging the hose going into the carb to test.

If fuel ie being delivered and you are not able to start, it could be the carb or the engine mechaniclas. Did you check if fuel is present when opening the throttle, accelerator pump should be working. Are you able to start with starter fluids?

Did you check if there are sparks at the plugs?
