My 1987 Holden commodore has an alarm system installed that requires a pin to be entered into a key pad to deactivate the alarm, the car has been flat for some time and we are not unable to put the pin into the pad to deactivate this alarm. Do you know of a way to change the battery inside the alarm or disconnect it from the car? Thankyou

Sorry, you would need to contact the company that made that system. It isn't a factory item. You should be able to find out about the unit and how to access any back-up battery by searching for the company and model number. Then proceed from there.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately we are having trouble working out the brand or model number of the alarm system.

That is one of the pitfalls of those alarms as well as their strengths, a thief couldn't just look at the pad and think "that's a raycom model 13996435 system and you defeat it by cutting the green wire and shorting the purple".

Usually that style unit with a keypad was a more comprehensive item, they would shut down the fuel, ignition, flash lights and activate a siren/horn, so they were wired into a lot of the vehicle. The easiest solution would probably be to take it to a shop/dealer and have them deal with it.
