I did not have heat at all in my vehicle listed above Platinum. My mechanic said it would be around $3,500.00 to take the dash apart and repair a blend door servo/actuator I pulled the dash apart and all actuators seem to be functioning properly. I then came across the idea of the coolant being air locked. Bled air with front of car elevated and a burp bucket. The heat started blowing warm. I then realized it would blow hot when the engine is revved up to 2,000 RPMs. I flushed water through the heater core with no trash or resistance. I went ahead and flushed the coolant system and installed a new thermostat. I repeated the burping process. I still only have hot heat when at 2,000 RPMs or higher.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

It sounds like you still have air in the system. I have attached the bleeding procedure below for refilling the coolant. It indicates specific tooling is required.

Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

It will be at least a week or more before I am able to try this.
Thanks again!

Jeremy,

You are very welcome. No problem with the time. But could you let me know if it helps? I'm interested in knowing if this takes care of the issue.

Take care,

Joe

So, it took me a little more than a week to respond. I had to find the tool at a reasonable price but was able to get one. We did the procedure and it seemed to help for about a week. The weird thing is we are having to add about 2 cups + of antifreeze every couple of weeks. There is no sign of an external leak, and the oil is not milky or building in volume. Not sure what is going on. Any thoughts?
Thanks for any advice you may have to offer!
Of course, it is warming up outside and there is less need for the heater working.

Hi,

The coolant shouldn't be disappearing. When the engine is at operating temperature, turn off the engine and open the hood. Are the radiator hoses solid from pressure?

Also, have you ever noticed excessive white smoke from the exhaust?

Let me know.
