1999 GMC Truck starter

I broke the power terminal off that goes to the starter, replaced the starter it started fine the first time, turned it off and started it to be sure and it started. I tried to start it again and it wouldnt start, it wont click or do anything I checked the starter and I noticed that the solenoid cable broke off leading to the vehicle I connectd it back to the solenoid screw and it still wont do anything. Please help me out someone.

5.7 liter V8 motor

OK if you would get a test light and check for voltage at the battery cable at the starter. Then check the S term for power when you put the key in the start possition. Let me know what you fnd. You may have to use a digital multi meter to do other tests if needed.
