Electrical problem
1998 GMC Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I THINK MY FUEL PUMP IS BAD. I CHECKED THE PRESSURE BY PUSHING DOWN ON THE FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE ADAPTER AND NO FUEL CAME OUT WHILE I WAS CRANKING. JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE POWER IS GOING TO FUEL PUMP. I BELIEVE IT IS ELECTRIC. DIDN'T CHECK TO MAKE SURE.

Hi, there should be a fuel pump test connector, under the hood, driver side fender lining, close to firewall. If you use a jumper wire with inline fuse connected to battery voltage, touch the test connector, should be a red wire with electrical connector, nothing plugged into it. The pump should run, you don't need to use the key.

Also, under the vehicle at the rear, there is the connector for the fuel pump. Don't how easy to get at, you'll have to look. Gray wire is voltage to the pump motor, black wire is ground. Engine cranking you can use testlite to check for voltage, gray wire. Check ground, also.
