5.4L V8 98K Mi. we have fuel pressure, and spark. But this truck has always intermittently sported a 'Security' light on the message center. Didnt seem to effect anything.
But last time this happened, we used a different key - and the problem went away (still had intermittent security lights tho).
Right now it just acts like it starts, but then sounds fuel starved and dies.
I used to like this truck.

I would start by checking for codes, in the event that it is an anti-theft mal-function.

IS the fuel pressure in specification, as it is critical; not just present?

thanks for your reply.

yes 60psi.

Also, after beating on it for about 30 minutes, i walked away - and an observer said the alarm turned on for about a minute then shut off. I dont think i had the fob in my pocket - and that is the only time it has done that that i know of.
Also, this does not use a chip key.

[quote:571c906bd9="jmaschle"]t changed the tilt-wheel and it started right up!

Sure would like to see a detail drawing of the routing of the passlock system through that steering column…I suspect a bare wire rubbing on something…maybe I should disassemble myself?

Anyway – thanks again for your assistance.

(I think I will keep the truck a bit longer.)

It's going to be a time bomb waiting to not start at a later date if you don't address it I would think.
