when I start my vehicle it doesn't start on the first try, it sounds like it isn't getting any fuel or something...but one the second crank it starts, but it takes it a few minutes to warm up and start idling good, if you try to take off before it has idled awhile, it is like it isn't getting fuel, and it just sputters and goes intermitently until it gets warmed up. Also, my battery had went dead, and I just put a new one in, but this fuel problem started before the battery went dead...but I was told that a bad battery could weaken the fuel pump.

They have a lot of problems with the fuel pumps on these. You need to use an accurate fuel pressure gauge in the morning when the problem is present to see what the pressure is doing and what it does when shut off. This engine requires a minimum of 55 PSI to even run.

where can I get a fuel pressure gage and are they expensive? Do you think that the battery being low would have weakened the fuel pump?

No, the alternator would have made up for any battery shortcomings.

A good fuel pressure gauge can be pricey but some of the auto part stores will loan or rent them out.
