Transmission problem
1988 GMC Sierra V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 134k miles
I had the rear replaced about 18months ago.It was from a 6 cyl truck .A few months before it stopped working the alternator wasnt fully putting the charge back in the battery (it had beed replaced not long before that).I had some weird occurances that may be an indication of something else other than the transmission or the cause.After getting gas it began to stall and run like it had square wheels.I cleaned the injectors w/isopropol.It repeated this on other occasions and at times it would lose power.When the transmission broke is just lost power and stopped ther was no reverse and i could operate with pedal to the floor.There are no code lights except battery.It does not go into gear.The lever works but it doesnt affect the trans..There are possibly more things wrong.Any ideas on what I should do before replacing the transmission.I think the timing belt or distributor may be the problem.I know iI need a new alternator again.
