My Chevy Avalanche has a clunk in the 3-2 downshift. It usually does it at low RPM's. The sound is very loud. It also has an early downshift with 3-2 and 2-1. I have brought it to the dealer about 7 times without a fix. They say the 3-2 clunk is a normal operating condition. I have had the valve body rebuilt 3-4 times without a fix.

have you had the computer reprogrammed with the updates? also check the u-joints and rear diff. you can do this by setting the parking brake, putting the vehicle in neutral, then crawl under and rotate the drive line back and forth while listening for the clunk and trying to move it around different directions at the u-joints checking for play.

The driveline is solid with no clunk. It only happens to 3rd gear at low RPM's.
