Hello,
I have a 1997 Olds Aurora which has around 145k miles on it. The car has been extremely reliable and I have maintained it very well. A few weeks ago I began to notice something distrubing. While driving down the road at approximatley 45 miles an hour (coasting basically) the speedometer started going crazy, up and down-up and down, then bottomed out at zero. The tranny also seemed to be "slipping" or malfunctioning somewhat. A few seconds later it pulled out of it and both the speedometer and tranny seemed to be fine. It has done this a couple more times over the past few weeks. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks for you help!

My 2004 Olds Aurora has been almost no trouble and I love it. One of the best easy to maintain vehicles I've ever owned over approx 30 years of driving.
Last year I lost the water pump but no big deal.
Thing is, my Oldsy started doing the same thing as yours is doing but it is intermittent and then itstraightens itself right out again.
Freaks you out on the highway but I'm stymied if I know why it's doing this. Seems just fine once it has it's little spastic fit.
Hope someone out there has an answer.

Thanks for the reply. Where'd you get a 2004 Aurora? I thought the last model year was 2003? Anyway, I have not heard anything about this problem. I think I may have narrowed it down to the Vehicle Speed Sensor VSS, but not possitive.
