how do you unlock the steering wheel

1990 chevy cavalier 58,000 mls we can't turn the key because the steering wheel is locked help please!

heres a tip next time it happens,now i'm only telling this once.so pay attention.as your turning your steering weel either way and turn your key at the same time. it works if you can get it right.

trying to move the steering wheel a little either side and turning the key at the same time can unlock it.
