I have a 1996 Gmc Jimmy 2wd 4.3ltr v6 vortech. At first it was hard to start after sitting or in the morning. So we replaced the fule filter and had the fule pump checked to see if it was getting the right pressure and it was so when I came out to start it one day it wouldnt start at all unless we pored gas into the throttle body, and then it would start but die again after the gas ran out so we bought all 3 fule pump relays replaced them still didnt work so then we checked to see if the injector relay was bad we did ths by testing each injector to see if they were getting power and they were, so to make shure the fule pump was pumping gas we tryed to start it and the disconnected the hose to the back of the throttle body and gas shot out every where at us we are totaly puzzled is there some other electrical componet that would keep the gas from going to the throttle body or do I need to have my car junked?

I just had a similar problem recently. It turned out to be the ignition switch. No power to PCM or relays, also I couldn't shift out of Park.

Hope this helps,
Joe

One more item in the system is the oil pressure fuel cut off switch located under the distributor, if this goes bad or open for some reason it cuts the fuel, I really think a fuel pressure test would reveal some more info also like low or poor pressure, leak down indicating a bad fuel pressure regulator, take your time and test one component at a time and there are no injectors on these engines they are poppet valves so as long as the speder has power usually you are ok let me know
