Engine Mechanical problem
2000 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and when driving at a steady pace somtimes the RPM's surg up 100-300 rpm
The shop told me it was the mas air flow sensor and replaced it 356.00. Once the car warmed up and I was a couple of miles down the road the surg returned like it always does? Oh and yes the air conditioning is off. The RPM's do not surg when I am accelerating. Only when I'm at a level RPM range.

How old is the fuel filter? What is the fuel pressure doing when this is happening? Let me know what you can. Thanks.

Fuel filter is probably the original. Not sure regarding the fuel pressure. Also just to clarify it doesn't always surge only about 20% of the time when driving at a steady RPM. I will try and look at the feul pressure and see what it's doing.

Well if the fuel filter might be original then replace it even if it don't fix the problem it is in need anyway. The fuel filter should be changed once a year. So start with that and see what it does. Then you can get to checking fuel pressure if it continues. Let me know how it goes.
