I have a 98 Jimmy that I have replaced the fuel pump filter ,spark plugs and wires,ignition control switch,air filter etc on and it will still not start on its own.To get it to start I must spray starter fluid in the intake.I know thats not good.So I have parked the car and have gone back to searching for the problem.My fuses are good and I can hear the fuel pump ingage but I am at a loss as to why it won't start.Also sometimes it will cut off if I press the gas pedal down.Any sugesstions would be greatly appericated.

First, do you have a check engine light? If yes, I'll need to know what the codes are and their definitions.
Two things you need to check;
1- crack the incoming fuel line at the fuel rail and turn the key to "on" and see if you get fuel. The pump should run for just a few seconds. Then crank the engine and se if you get fuel being careful. You don't want a fire.
2- With an ordinary test light on both terminals of any injector connector, check for injector pulse while cranking. Let me know what you find.
