transmission started slipping in first ,once it shifts to 2 trans works find,doesw this mean it need a rebuilt are is there something else i can do to it that i don,t kown about,also car starts up fine but lopes alittle while in park or in gearit drives fine and there is no gas smell while driving and it turns off just fine,the check engine ligth came on when the car first would pop when i try to start it then it would run rougth,i,ve since change the gas filtre and that seems to have hsougth that prolem the ligth still stays on and ive unhook the battery+ but the ligth still is on,so what do you think the problem is?

What you need to do here is have the computer scanned for code/s at Autozone supposely a free public service, this is your starting point finding out what's causing the CEL to come on-there's a problem within the engine management system and comeback with the code/s, we start the troublshooting here-

took car to a shop left it there came back later owner said could'nt get any reading from computer.nothing and ligth still on.said probaly loose wire or short in system would have tyo take dask apart and check wireing for bad connection or short.first thing in moring car won,t start?after i start second time in park car will start but roughly'and won,t stay running unless i shift into gear,then it will start rest of the day on first turnover and stay running?what do you think!

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs, coolant temperature sensor, idle ar control valve and test the throttle position sensor-
