I own an 89 GMC Jimmy and for the past couple of weeks I have had some real trouble keeping it running. I can start it and it sounds good and idles with no noticeable problems. Then I will drive it and periodically it will stall out and die suddenly. Doesnt stutter or bog down it just dies. I have seen a couple of mechanics in my area and have gotten everything from my radiator, to the fuel pump, to the cat convertor. I know that I have a small leak in my radiator. I am currently in the process of buying one. I however do not beleive this to be the problem. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, the gas tank itself, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil. I have noticed that the voltage has been a bit jumpy lately. Could it be a short somewhere? Other than the fact that it dies but will then start back up, I have had no real serious problems. Could someone please help me?

Do below to determine if its fuel or spark related problem and then get back with some results

Get a starting fluid or ether and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
