Hello,

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank. At a garage it will run about $500 or so.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Labor rates varies with location could be $70.00-$130.00 an hr. See below quotes

How can you tell if the fuel pump has gone bad? My envoy will crank and idle but when you put it in drive it will only go about 20 feet and spits, sputters and dies.

You need to stay in one (1) post. You need to check the fuel pressure this is your starting point to rule out the fuel pump. Get this done and if okay we'll move somewhere else.
