Electrical problem
1979 GMC C2500 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have installed a new starter switch , battery is hot, fuses good, wires good. But still won't start.
Starter doesn't even make a sound.
When the problem started, the truck wouldn't start, and so I let it sit for awhile and then it started.
Then later it wouldn't start again. So, everyone thot.
it was a problem with the switch. But that didn't fix the problem.

You did not mention if you remove the starter and have it checked out? when the starters are weak. They get HOT and will not start until they cool down, do you have a set headers on this truck? because if you do. The headers may be getting the starter HOT. Also if you replaced the battery cable, and the battery cable is not big enough. It will starve the starter for voltage.
