Sorry - yes - want to remove the alternator to have it tested
engine is a v8 305 5.7l

Disconnect the battery pos. Take off surpentine belt take loose the battery wire on back of alt and unplug the field wire, remove the two mounting bolts and remove alt. Make sure you check all your big buss fuses sometimes that circut is fused also mak sure that you have a good charged battery. If you have to put on a new altrinator a low battery can damage new alt when you start it up a low battery can cause the reg to go wide open and blow the alt just do reverse when going back (NOS)

- just to give a little backround of why i'm having the alternator tested is because my battery would not hold it's charge. I just assumed the alternator was bad so I thought i'd have it tested.

You may think about you battery also a bad battery will also cause an alt not to charge and visaversa NOS
