Engine Performance problem
1986 GMC C1500 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I am having a problem with my engine"s performance. It won't start or stay running without my foot on the gas pedal. while driving it's sluggish. I've done plugs, wire's rotary cap,starter sylonoid. I have an Edlebrock 4-barrel carb.... and a 350 engine. Please help

this could be a couple of things. check your timing chain to see if it's jumped or slipped. Line up #1 TDC and the rotor cap to see if that's good. then do a compression check. If you have good compression, then take your rocker covers off and see if all the valves are operating right. You may have a bad cam an dthe valves may not be opening like they are supposed to.
